How to produce emulsion paint

Hi readers. Today we look at how to produce paints which you could equally commercialize if you so wish.

There is no need to bore you with all the technicalities involved in paint production like Stabilization, reduction, filling, hiding, pigment-volume concentration (p.v.c) etc, but if you are interested, email.

As is our method here, I want to go straight and give you the direct information needed, so that anyone, even a child of five can do it.

Equipments needed

  •         I.            Mixer: If you have a mechanical mixer, that will reduce the amount of stirring you are going to do otherwise a vessel and a stirrer will be okay.
  •       II.            Weighing Balance

10
P.V.A (binds all the components together)
0.45kg

PROCEDURE

  1. Measure out 1.95 liter of water and add titanium dioxide to it.
  2. Add Aluminum Silicate, Kaolin and calcium carbonate in this order and mix very well.
  3. Then add the preservative, stabilizer, defoamer and the P.V.A and mix.
  4. Check the PH to make sure that it is within 8.0 to 8.5, otherwise adjust with the ammonia liquor.
  5. Also, check the capacity of your paint to determine if you will still add the remaining part of the water.
  6. Finally add the kerosene. This will be the last thing to be added, otherwise the quality of your paint will be affected.
  7. Then, your paint is ready.
