A middle-aged woman reportedly died in an accident involving a Toyota Camry with number plate JJJ-103 DG and a tricycle at Abati Bus Stop, Shasha Road, Akowonjo area of Lagos State.
The accident, which occurred around 5a.m., Saturday, claimed the life of Mrs. Abigail, a passenger in the tricycle. She reportedly died on the spot, while others sustained injuries and were taken to a hospital.
Vanguard gathered that the driver of the car rammed into the tricycle while trying to overtake another vehicle.
Speaking to Vanguard, a resident, Abdulaziz Umar, who helped rescue some of the survivors, said: “The driver of the private car hit the tricycle while attempting to overtake another vehicle. Three other persons were severely injured.
“Among those injured was an old woman, who was returning from a church vigil. The hospital we took the victims to rejected them, so we had to take them to another one.”
A roadside food vendor, identified as Iya Victoria, said: “The driver of the Toyota Camry was discovered drunk when he was arrested by the police.
“In fact, we do not know what is happening at this bus stop. Just last week a vehicle crashed into the building of a private school at the same bus stop.”
